The Kindness Campaign Named 2024 Cap10K Race Beneficiary

Jeff Simecek Statesman Cap10K Race Director

Austin, TX — The 47th annual Statesman Capitol 10,000, presented by Baylor Scott & White Health and scheduled for Sunday, April 7, 2024, is proud to name The Kindness Campaign as the race beneficiary. One dollar from every Cap10K registration will go to the local nonprofit organization, and race participants will also have the option to make an additional donation during registration, which the Statesman will match up to $10,000. Registration is currently open on

Founded in 2015, The Kindness Campaign’s mission is to create and provide accessible emotional health curriculum and programs to both children and adults in homes and classrooms. Since its inception, this non-profit has provided in-depth, hands-on curriculum and programming to over 239,000 children through their virtual and in-person programs.

In 2022, The Kindness Campaign partnered with companies such as BK Beauty, AMC Theaters, Indeed, National Charity League, Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Nordstrom, Amy’s Ice Creams, Kendra Scott, and more, which helped expand the reach of The Kindness Campaign. During the World Kindness Day initiative alone, over 58,000 children and/or families across the country were served.

Jeff Simecek, Cap10K Race Director, believes the mission of The Kindness Campaign strongly aligns with the race’s core mission: to help improve the health and wellness of the Austin community.

“Emotional health and physical health go hand in hand,” says Simecek. “Exercise is an important aspect to both, and running is a great way to reduce the stresses of daily life. We also believe in lending our support to local organizations like The Kindness Campaign, which is doing so much to teach children the importance of positive emotional health.”

“We are so moved to be selected as the 2024 Cap10K race beneficiary,” said Andra Liemandt, Founder and CEO of The Kindness Campaign. “This kind of support amplifies the amount of schools, students, and educators we can reach, not to mention the families and communities connected to them. We could not be more thankful to the Statesman Cap10K and Baylor Scott and White Health for rallying behind our cause, which is to provide programming and year-round curriculum that help children develop their emotional health skills. When a child learns to listen, to self-regulate in positive ways, and connect with their peers, all outcomes rise, including academic achievement. What started for us as suicide prevention has blossomed into a robust kindness movement, and we’re grateful to Cap10K for helping us serve children right here in Central Texas and beyond — to campus communities across the country.”
