Jeff Simecek Statesman Cap10K Race Director
Austin, TX — The 48th annual Statesman Capitol 10,000, presented by Baylor Scott & White Health, scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, has named Sneakers4Good the returning sustainability partner of the race. Registration is currently open at Cap10K.com, where participants can also make a charitable donation to The Kindness Campaign, the 2025 race beneficiary. The Austin American-Statesman will match donations up to $10,000.
“As we look ahead to the 2025 Cap10K, I am pleased to announce that Sneakers4Good has again been named as the official Sustainability Partner for the upcoming race,” said Jeff Simecek, Cap10K Race Director. “Reducing our carbon footprint is something we take seriously to conserve resources, and this shared commitment with Sneakers4Good supports our environmental and social responsibility”.
Kristy Morris, Chief Marketing Officer at Sneakers4Good, shared the incredible impact of the 2024 race, noting that “Cap10K’s dedicated runners and supporters have successfully diverted over a thousand pairs of sneakers from landfills, conserving over 508,000 gallons of water in the process.”
For the 2025 race, participants and the Austin community can double their impact by bringing gently used running shoes to the Cap10K Health and Fitness Expo on April 4 and 5, 2025. Every pair collected will be given a second life, supporting underdeveloped countries while helping to reduce waste. With 300 million pairs of shoes thrown away annually in the U.S., Sneakers4Good is committed to turning used sneakers into opportunity.
The funds raised through this initiative will benefit The Kindness Campaign, the official beneficiary of the 2025 Cap10K race. Together, we’re making strides towards a more sustainable future—one pair of sneakers at a time. Stay tuned for more details on how you can get involved!
