The Austin Distance Challenge is a series of six of the most prestigious local running events starting in the fall and leading up to the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon & Half Marathon in February. The races increase in distance as the series progresses, making the series a natural component of many Austin runners’ training. Participants sign up for the series, registering for either the Full or Half Track to compete against personal goals and for awards.

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, one of Austin’s most beloved Thanksgiving traditions, started in 1991 with just a handful of volunteers and 600 participants. Today it has grown to be the largest 5 mile run in Texas. Your participation helps support local programs in our community like Caritas of Austin. Caritas of Austin builds well-being by making sure that people have a safe home, access to healthy groceries, jobs that provide a reliable living wage, and educational opportunities to learn life skills.

Run Downhill to Downtown! The 3M Half Marathon presented by Under Armour boasts one of the fastest 13.1-mile courses in the country and will celebrate its 27th year running on Jan. 23, 2022. More than 7,000 runners took to the Austin streets in 2020. Runners will enjoy a point-to-point course with mostly downhill running that showcases some of Austin’s finest locations. Starting in north Austin and finishing near the Texas State Capitol, runners will appreciate a 300’+ net elevation drop.
