The 2016 Statesman Capitol 10,000 race will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2016, starting at 8:00 a.m. on South Congress Avenue (Ann Richards Bridge) over Lady Bird Lake. It will end at 12:00 p.m. on West Riverside Drive at Auditorium Shores Main Lawn. An estimated 25,000 runners and walkers will take part in the 6.2-mile race. The race route will run through or near several central Austin neighborhoods and business districts.
Road Closures on race day will begin at 3:00 a.m. near the start line; the course will be closed to motor vehicles by 7:00 a.m. for the 8:00 a.m. race start. Roads will reopen on a rolling schedule following the last participant.
