The Running ’Dillo
The armadillo for the 40th Running of the Cap10K is inspired by longtime Statesman editorial cartoonists Ben Sargent’s classic running ’dillo that appeared on the first race shirt in 1978.
The running ’dillo was utilized for many race shirts through the years and became the unofficial race mascot. Over the years, the illustration of the ’dillo was modified to reflect the design taste of the times. Ultimately, the ’dillo disappeared from the race shirt design, much to the dismay of loyal Cap10K enthusiasts.
We are proud to introduce the new ’dillo for the 40th running of the Statesman Cap10K in 2017.
